My Little Best Friends Early Learning Center  has immediate openings for Part -Time and Full Time Teachers. Applicants should have previous experience working with young children. EEC certification or coursework is desirable. Candidates will be expected to help with the smooth daily routines and operation of the program. Applicants must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with My Little Best Friends Early Learning Center Policies and Procedures.

We seek nurturing, patience, flexible, imaginative, creative teachers who can effectively plan and problem solves with a team. The ability to understand and willingness to work with a range of learning styles. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and others. City of Malden Controller’s Office is hiring a Clerk 2.

DUTIES: Working under the supervision of the Controller and/or his designee, performs day to day administrative duties and key functions for the Department. Processes and verifies accounts payable warrants; reviews all invoices submitted for payment for accuracy; assists in verifying and updating cash receipts; makes updates to the general ledger by performing various journal entries such as expense entries, budget transfers, and budget amendments.  Works directly with the public on requests for information relating to the Department; maintains a listing of City wide fixed assets; maintains a comprehensive database of all vendors doing business with the City and completes other tasks as assigned by the Controller.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; must have the ability to manage multiple duties and projects simultaneously; also must have effective interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with a diverse customer base both internal and external to the Department.  Additionally, must possess a demonstrated technical skill in using Microsoft applications, financial software packages, and demonstrable proficiency in learning new software systems. Accurate record keeping and strong organizational skills are also a must. A minimum of 3 – 5 years of skilled clerical experience is required.  Multilingual preferred. Preference will be given to Malden residents.

You will be responsible for overseeing the administrative activities of a small law firm specializing in immigration.  We want someone who will keep our firm running smoothly, our clients happy, and who cares about our cause.

Responsibilities:

• Welcome clients – answer phones, schedule and prepare consultations for the attorneys, greet clients in office.
• Set a positive tone for our office each day. First point of contact for clients and vendors.
• Manage the Firm’s operations, including oversight of financial and business operations
• Manage billing and collections.
• Manage office supplies and equipment.
• Oversee the Firm’s payroll, billing, and bookkeeping/accounting.
• Manage employees, including enforcing office policy manual.
• Implement initiatives to control and encourage workflow.
• Supervise new case file creation and client coordination.
• Maintain strict confidentiality when handling firm, employee, and administrative matters.
• Oversee marketing plan, track results.
• Perform other office tasks (replenish office supplies, distribute mail, set up new case files).

Hours:  Full Time Expected Hours: 9-5 (alternatively 8:30-4:30 or 9:30 to 5:30)

Qualifications/Skills Preferred:
• Passionate about helping immigrants.
• Friendly, polite, caring attitude.
• Spanish or Portuguese language required. Additional languages helpful.
• Law firm experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in administrative services or other related fields.
• Experience in management.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Deadline and detail-oriented.
• Proficiency with bookkeeping, numbers, receivables, payables, and recording.
• Undergraduate degree or relevant experience is preferred.

Volunteer Opportunities

Action for Boston Community Development Inc. (ABCD)
Volunteer Position Available: Tax Volunteer

We need volunteers for our annual tax assistance program. Each year, ABCD helps thousands of families to prepare their tax returns for FREE through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. This year’s program will run from January 22, 2019- April 16, 2019. Trainings in tax law and VITA guidelines will be provided for free to volunteers. Let us know if you would like to help!

  • Expected Time Commitment (Hours/month): 20-30 hours/ month
  • Position Location: Varies (Medford, Malden and Everett)
  • Qualifications/Skills Preferred:
    • Must possess strong oral communication skills
    • Bilingual in a language spoken by ABCD clients desired (Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Portuguese, Arabic, highly preferred

Housing Families: Do you like helping children learn?
Housing Families GREAT Youth and Families program is looking for awesome tutors for our after school program. Volunteers must be high school aged or older. We are here Monday through Friday 3-6 with the addition of an extra hour Wednesday when program is 3-7. Currently we serve children pre-school-12th grade. Training and lots of support are provided and supplemental trainings are offered throughout the year! The commitment is one hour a week for 6 months or for students one hour a week for a semester.
